There is this bread of men who are programmed differently and society tend to cast them away and give them the side eye. I stand here today(am actually sited in a matatu with loud music in the morning heading to town.). But still I stand in heart & mind.
The point is I defend the boy child who does not like or even care about football.
I know I have already stepped on to many peoples toes but someone had to address this issue.
Its not that we are less of a man or as they say "mkona umama" but we tend to view it in a very different angle.
Walk with me, the game is 90mins that's exclusive of extra time, 24 grown as men on a small green field divided into two. Separate team in various formations (will not go into details due to the fact that they run all over the place) and finally the ball.
Ooh I forgot the two goal posts where the ball should go into to consider a score. But there is a guy guarding the post to avoid the ball getting in(goalkeeper).
So basically that's how this guys arrange themselves so for the next 90mins they will be playing with this ball snatching each other with the aim of getting the ball to get into the the opposite side goalpost or net.
This cat and mouse game goes on for a whopping 45mins they then take a 15min break, get back to the field for another 45. If all goes well they are added another 5mins or so.
(The aim here is not to explain how football works but now u get the picture). Now what we do not understand is how do u spend all that time on a TV screen watching grown ass men chasing an inflated ball trying to get it into the opponents net.
And after all that sweat and even causing serious injuries to each other they end up scoring an average of 2-3 goals on either side. Who does that?
90mins is too much to spend on that. I mean that a full episode of vikings or even valor( this is a new series),in that same time I can write and publish two blog posts, or even get to have a Samantha moment(if you know what I mean)
So what we saying is that 90mins is to much if I was 13 or 17 mins we could consider it.
All in all hatuna ubaya we just see the world from a different angle & we would like to be appreciate if we not given the side eye.
Naenda hivi nakam......
